How long do you give a player before you pull the plug on em? I’m assuming 1 game would be a lil too early. And do you sit him on the bench hoping he gets it together at some point, or trade him and drop the dead weight now?
2 Kenny McGee // Sep 8, 2008 at 3:43 am
It depends on the player, the one game he’s played, how many bench spots you have, etc. The short version though, don’t drop him, whoever he is. You drafted him for a reason–probably because of past production. If he did it before, he could do it again at any moment. If you had Drew Brees last year you know what I’m talking about. Check out his game log. It took 5 games for the Saints to get on track. Evaluate the situation, then wait one extra game after you decide to cut him loose. A guy like Chris Cooley might not last 5 games on my bench though. Jim Zorn looked clueless, and I wouldn’t count on Campbell mastering his 8th offense in 9 years in time to make Cooley into a top producer. Treat every situation individually, just try not to jump the gun. If you dumped a guy every time he had a bad game, you’d have no team left after a few weeks.

should i start d. henderson wr. for the saints , or d.jackson wr. for the eagles?
4 Eddie Lewis // Sep 14, 2008 at 12:43 am
I say DeSean Jackson from the Eagles. He should get more targets than Devery. Not only that, but Devery only had one catch last week. Granted, it was for 84 yards and a td, but he was too close to putting up a donut for me to take a chance on him. Go check out the mailbag mayhem article. The second question is about the Colston injury situation.

I have Anquan Boldin and Chris Johnson. I’ve been offered a trade for Marshawn Lynch and Jonathan Stewart. Should I do it?
6 Eddie Lewis // Sep 23, 2008 at 6:32 pm
I say keep the players you have now. Boldin and Chris Johnson have outscored Lynch and Stewart so far this year. It’s not by much, but in fantasy football every point counts. Not only that, but all 3 running backs are sharing carries to a certain extent. Boldin, however, is on the field for every play. So hold on to them and only consider the trade if they give you something better than Stewart.

I am in a head-to-head league where only the league manager and myself are undefeated. Well, at least I WAS undefeated until the manager changed the scoring settings today, which changed the outcome of my week 3 match-up where I beat my competition from a win for me to a tie. Now only the league manager is undefeated and he and I are matched up for week 4. I have asked that these scoring changes not be retroactive and that I only think it is fair for them to take effect starting week 4. Help me out, Kenny, how should I handle him?
8 Kenny McGee // Sep 25, 2008 at 11:52 pm
kris,
i would automatically call bullshit, and demand my win back. the only reason for a mid-season scoring change is an obvious typo that’s so insignificant that it slipped through the cracks for three weeks. if he held a league vote and the majority were in favor, that’s one thing. if he just up and changed things because he’s commish, you need to raise hell. Either way, the results from the first three weeks should be written in stone. If you don’t know dude well enough to fix things via email, hold a league vote of your own to see the change reversed or at least not made retroactive. If the guy is too bullheaded, either push to have him removed as commish, or grit your teeth and start looking for a new league for next year. Fantasy is frustrating enough without some joker fudging the rules every other week. Even if he isn’t looking for an advantage, he’s indecisive and inconsiderate. And don’t even get me started if there’s money involved. There’s principalities in this. Hand him his ass this week, urge other owners to raise hell with you, and remember all this next year when you’re looking for a league. Good luck.
9 Kris // Sep 30, 2008 at 6:48 pm
I raised hell, made a couple enemies, and got my win back. As for my match-up with the commish, I “handed him his ass”. 148-92. And it felt damn good.

nice. fantasy is all about making enemies and handing asses. you’re 2 for 2 this week!

I have Jennings, Wayne, Fitzgerald, & D. Jackson for my WR’s. My RB’s are Graham, Forte, Mewelde Moore & W. Dunn. I’m thinking I should trade D. Jackson for Ryan Grant. Any thoughts?
12 Eddie Lewis // Oct 3, 2008 at 4:33 pm
I’m assuming you can only start 3 WRs at a time. So Jackson is probably just wasting away on your bench. I would trade him. Ryan Grant would be a steal if he can get anything going this year, which I think he will. I’d much rather have him than Moore or Dunn.
13 Bama Girl // Oct 3, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Actually, we start 2RB’s, 2 WR’s, and 2 RB/WR so I can play all 4 WR’s. I worry Jackson’s value will fall in the coming weeks with Brown back and Curtis on his way back and was wondering if I should try to sell him high now for someone like Grant.
14 Eddie Lewis // Oct 3, 2008 at 6:19 pm
I would still make the deal. Grant’s schedule doesn’t look very intimidating the rest of the way. The Packers and Eagles haven’t had their bye week yet, so it’s not like you would lose an extra game if you get Grant. And on top of that, Grant did almost all of his damage in about 10 games last year. I think it’s just a matter of time before he gets back on track.
15 Anonymous // Oct 17, 2008 at 9:15 am
What’s the deal with Willie Parker? Because of bye weeks I either have to play him or drop him. I think I still have a good chance at winning my match-up even if he doesn’t play. Would you take the chance and keep him even if he is out this week? Will he be good enough once he’s healthy to warrant holding onto him?
16 Eddie Lewis // Oct 17, 2008 at 10:36 am
I would try to trade Parker. You might have to hold onto him until he has another big performance first. But if someone is willing to take him off your hands now, I would do it. Most fantasy league playoffs are weeks 14, 15 and 16…Pittsburgh plays Dallas, Baltimore and Tennessee in those weeks.

Should I offer Addai’s owner D. Rhodes and D. Jackson for Steve Smith (CAR)? His team is really weak at running back with Addai hurt.
18 Eddie Lewis // Oct 20, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Yes, unless you are very good friends. If you are, you might not be after you rob him of Steve Smith. Good idea to dump Rhodes before his value is gone too.

Fantasy adddicts, I have B Jacobs (@Pit), S Slaton (Cin), W McGahee (Oak), M Lynch (@Mia), and L White (Ind), which 3 do I start in week 8? I am pretty sure that whoever I don’t start is going to go off, and it’ll cost me a win.
20 Eddie Lewis // Oct 22, 2008 at 2:28 pm
Ok, the numbers indicate that Jacobs and Lynch have the toughest matchups. The Steelers are 2nd against the run and Miami 12th. With that being said, I would sit one of them, and it would be Lynch. Definitely start Slaton against Cincy and I would go with LenDale over McGahee. The reason being that LenDale is the goal line back for his team and McGahee may or may not be.
21 Anonymous // Oct 23, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Who should I start as my flex this week: D. Rhodes or K. Faulk? Rhodes has a tough match up, but Faulk will share with Green-Ellis.
22 Eddie Lewis // Oct 24, 2008 at 9:13 am
I think you definitely have to go with Rhodes if Addai is out. Rhodes has scored 3 td’s in the last 2 weeks against Baltimore and Green Bay. The Titans are tough, but Rhodes could get some receptions as well. Yes, New England is playing St. Louis. However, you don’t know who’s gonna get the rock, Faulk, Green-Ellis or maybe even Lamont Jordan. So I would go with Rhodes.

My playoffs are weeks 15-17. Which QB’s have the best match ups?
24 Eddie Lewis // Oct 28, 2008 at 11:11 pm
I assume you mean QB’s who might be available on the waiver wire. So, for week 15…Orton vs Saints, Pennington vs 49ers and Matt Cassell vs Raiders. Week 16…Pennington vs Chiefs, Matt Ryan vs Vikings and Bulger vs 49ers. Week 17…Matt Ryan vs Rams and Orton vs Texans.
25 Anonymous // Nov 1, 2008 at 3:31 pm
My league starts 2 QB’s each week and can only have a max of 3 on our roster at all times. I have Romo (out), Delhomme (bye), and Edwards. I’m 7-1 and the match up this weeks favors me even playing short a QB. The best on the waiver wire are Kerry Collins and Brad Johnson. Should I risk a loss to hold onto my QB’s? I’ve tried trading with other teams, but no takers.
26 Eddie Lewis // Nov 2, 2008 at 12:26 am
I hate having an empty spot on my starting roster, but in this particular situation, I would have to agree with you. Romo will not be back next week, and I would much rather have Delhomme than Collins. And on top of that you’re 7-1, so I’m assuming you almost have your playoff spot locked up. Keep your QBs.
27 Bama Girl // Nov 3, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Is it time to get rid of Ernest Graham? What can I expect to get for him at this point?
28 Eddie Lewis // Nov 4, 2008 at 12:12 am
I’ve got Earnest on one of my teams and I tried to deal him last week. I offered Graham and McGahee to someone for Boldin, and he wouldn’t bite. So, looks like I’ll have to sweeten the pot. If you have another player with some value and similar production to Graham, deal both for one stud player. If the best player you offer is Graham, at this point, the best back you can hope to get would be somebody like Ronnie Brown.
29 Anonymous // Nov 5, 2008 at 6:24 pm
Would you rather have Kevin Curtis or Desean Jackson for the rest of the season?
30 Eddie Lewis // Nov 5, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Although Jackson is more explosive, Curtis is going to be on the field more since he’s a starter. Jackson is the #3 receiver behind Reggie Brown now. I like to go with the guy that’s going to get more targets, so I say Curtis.
31 Anonymous // Nov 23, 2008 at 1:24 pm
Who to start this week: Delhomme coming off 2 bad weeks or Matt Ryan going against a good pass defense?
32 Eddie Lewis // Nov 23, 2008 at 6:33 pm
I’m watching the game right now and it’s almost halftime, which means I obviously didn’t get to your question in time. Anyway, hope you went with Ryan, because the Panthers only have 3 points right now.
33 Kris // Nov 29, 2008 at 1:28 pm
Lance Moore or Wes Welker this week in a PPR league?
34 Eddie Lewis // Nov 29, 2008 at 7:02 pm
I’ve got Lance Moore as a flex in one of my leagues this week, so I would say Moore. I know Welker has been consistent all year, but Lance has scored a TD in 4 straight games.
35 Anonymous // Dec 19, 2008 at 6:33 pm
FLEX: D. Foster (if Gore sits) or W. Welker (possibility of awful weather)? Do you think Fitzgerald will play the entire game this week?
36 Eddie Lewis // Dec 19, 2008 at 7:45 pm
Go with Welker. I know it’s bad weather, but Wes has produced all season. I don’t see the Cardinals resting players at this point. They’ve locked up the division already, but you don’t want to go into the playoffs on the losing streak that they’re on right now. They need some momentum if they don’t want to get bounced in the first round. Start Fitz and Welker. I’m starting Kurt Warner in my championship game matchup, so I’ll be in the same boat with you if they don’t perform.
